Blog
It’s always great for us to see that our products help people get actively involved with fitness, especially when there’s a little competition involved. There’s nothing better than a dash of rivalry to get the blood pumping.
However, there’s something truly uplifting about seeing younger competitors taking part in these competitions. We’re proud to encourage junior competitors on their journey to being champions. Every step is important to us.
That’s why we’re delighted that junior members of our local Bolton Triathlon Club are proudly donning our custom triathlon kits, both in training and on the race trail.

Outward Ventures

The first event in the subsequent string took place back in June, with the Junior Triathlon that went ahead in Blackpool on Tuesday 3rd. The competition kicked off at the Palatine Leisure Centre where the opening swim was held, before candidates took to an off-road cycling track and finishing with a challenging open-road run to the finish line.
The event had a fantastic turnout, with over 180 juniors taking part in total. The teams came from all across the north-west, including – you guessed it – the Bolton Tri Club.
Notable successes on the day included 8-year-old Amelia Rose, who powered through with a truly admirable effort that saw her blazing through her race to finish in second place. Also name worth mentioning is Adam Akik, who valiantly came in fourth place in the T2 division.
There was also the Wirral Junior Triathlon on June 29th that a number of Bolton Tri Club girls took part in, an event hosted by Mersey Tri. Bolton Tri were represented by girls in T1, 2 and 3, who we’re proud to say chose VO2 triathlon gear to aid their impressive performances.

Closer to Home

That’s not all. Sunday June 8th saw a great turnout for the BTC Junior Aquathon, which commenced at noon with a swim at the Westhoughton Community Leisure Centre, on Bolton Road.
The race was a huge success, with loads of youngsters getting involved and encouraging others to get active. The juniors proved once and for all that triathletes can have fun while they compete, inspiring not just their peers but also parents were compelled to up their game and incorporate the active lifestyle into their daily routine.
It was great to see our advocates take part in an event so close to home. We love seeing the athletic community continue to grow in our home town on varying levels. Events like the Ironman UK race are fantastic for bringing attention to the area, but it’s the clubs like Bolton Tri that are responsible for more long-term growth in our younger athletes by nurturing potential to see them truly flourish.

Winner of the award for JUNE is MARK RUSSELL

Hello all,

I was pleased to see lots of races and updates in June, there were several performances that were very good throughout the month so please keep updating your races on the website/facebook.

The winner of the award for JUNE is MARK RUSSELL for his performance in the southport sprint distance triathlon.
MARK completed this race, which was an age group international qualifier finishing 3rd in his age category and qualifying to represent GB in Geneva next year. This is a incredible achievement to represent your country and I feel deserves recognition. Well done Mark ive got a winter hat for you next time I see you.

We are now into JULY and I know people are racing so keep updating and talking about your races.

Thanks

Nick

Swim session changes

Bolton One Thurday swim session 8 to 9pm is ending on Thu 31st July

New swim session to replace it starting at Ladybridge Wed 6th August 7 to 8pm

Hi all

Bolton One are insisting that we can only have 3 lanes from end of July. In addition any discounts we have had from them will no longer be available so it will cost £20 per lane per hour. We have managed to break even until now but only because we had some discount periods when they did not charge us at all or gave us 4 lanes for the price of 3. As a result the committee have decided to replace this session with one at Ladybridge pool where we can have the whole pool for £38 including the lifeguard. The pool is 4 lanes.

http://www.swimming.org/poolfinder/pools/1002529/bolton/ladybridge-leisure-centre?back=%7C122%7C Postcode is BL3 4LG.

The session will be coached by Faye or Nick Jackson as usual and be suitable for the same level of swimmers who attend Bolton One (those who do Ian’s sessions on a Saturday).

Next year we propose to include this session in the direct debit scheme. We might have to increase direct debits slightly. Until then it will be £3 a session.

The Wed night session at Smithills 8 to 9pm will continue and this is suitable for all levels of swimmers who want to focus on technique and stroke improvement

Extra junior swim session

We are also going to consider having an extra midweek junior session if we can get a suitable time  and venue and coaches are available. Please reply if your child would be interested in attending a midweek session.

Help needed with registration desk on Monday nights

With regard to the Levehulme Park session we could do with a rota of volunteers to help Karen at the registration desk.  She is finding it impossible to take all the money and deal with all the enquiries and questions at the same time. We need an extra person to introduce newcomers to coaches and and explain things to them

Let me know  if you can help
